Ibara is often associated with poison pokemon but I have always thought his growth and recovery focused personality is more fitting of grass pokemon. I think in a Pokemon AU Ibara's partner would be a Ferrothorn that he met on the military base as a Ferroseed. I like to imagine that Ibara rescued Ferroseed and it started following him around. Ibara was able to hide it in the spacious base but when it was time for him to leave, he had no Pokeball to carry it in so he stole a camo-patterned Pokeball from the base.
